Our Story

Afalcysoapco emerged during the 2020 lockdown when I found myself unemployed and about to complete my master's program. Seeking a new hobby, I discovered the joy of soap making and fell in love with the process. It was love at first pour! Crafting soap from scratch, free from harmful chemicals, empowered me deeply. Throughout my journey in learning this art, I gained a greater appreciation for natural ingredients and a newfound belief in myself and my abilities.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, connecting with others and encouraging them to be their best selves has always been my passion. Through afalcysoapco, I have blended my love for handcrafted soaps with my advocacy for mental health, work-life balance, and self-empowerment. With each handmade soap purchase will come an uplifting and encouraging message to keep you inspired and empowered. It is my goal to connect with you and remind each of you of your strength and resilience as we navigate this journey called life. At afalcysoapco, we take pride in crafting each soap by hand, starting from scratch. Our passion lies in the art of cold process soap making, which gives us the flexibility to create unique and high-quality products.

Our Ingredients

We use natural fats, oils, and butters to create a beautiful REAL bar of soap. What sets our handcrafted cold process soaps apart are their complete absence of parabens, phthalates, and synthetic detergents that are commonly found in commercially produced soaps. Our commitment lies in offering a gentle and nourishing experience for your mind, body, and soul.

Every small batch of our soap is poured by hand, then patiently cured for a minimum of 4 weeks. We cut and examine each bar before it is carefully packaged and made available for purchase. We aim for our soaps to be between 4-5 ounces at initial cut. We strive to replicate each batch to the best of our abilities. However, please note that as our soaps are handmade, slight variations in color, design, and size may occur, adding to their individual charm. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to embrace the individuality of our products. For an elegant touch, we wrap our soaps with a thoughtfully designed label which includes the list of ingredients on the back.

What is Cold Process Soap?

Cold process soap is a traditional method of making soap from scratch using natural ingredients. It is called “cold process” because it doesn’t require external heat to facilitate the saponification (soap-making) process.

The main components of cold process soap are fats, oils, or butters, water, and a lye solution (sodium hydroxide mixed with water). Other additives like essential/fragrance oils, herbs, botanicals, clays, colorants, and exfoliants can be included for fragrance, texture, and visual appeal.

The oils and fats/butters are combined and heated until they melt and are mixed together slowly, which creates an emulsion. The emulsion starts the saponification process, where the lye reacts with the oils, fats/butters. This chemical reaction converts the oils, fats and butters into soap. The soap is then left to cure for 4-6 weeks, allowing excess moisture to evaporate and the soap to harden.
